This is how we got stuck cable rig tools out in Zimbabwe....

Picture shows our modified Atlas Copco BVB25 wagon drill boring a hole to intersect the cable rig tools which were stuck in sand at about 20m.

The angle was calculated and a 25m hole drilled, but did not intersect.

The new hole was then cased with 100mm P.V.C through the soft sand.........

....and about 20kg of explosives placed at 25m in an attempt to break through into the other hole.

When explosives didn't work, we moved the air drill adjacent the cable tool hole and started again. This time we broke through and the air blew the cable tools loose.

Cable rig tools brought to surfce.

Note how close the drill bit was to the cable tool stem.
